No. The only way DCF will know about your experience with the class is if you tell them yourself. It is important to know however, that the group leader and research staff are required to report suspected abuse or neglect of a child to DCF if it has not been previously reported. If this is happens, we will talk with you about it.
Will I have to tell the trainers or other participants about my children's trauma?
No one will ask you and you do not have to share any personal information with anyone. You might find that you want to share some information as you get to know the trainers or other participants but you will never have to share anything you don’t want to.
Will my personal information be shared with DCF and/or my case worker?

What if I can't make all the classes?
We know that life can get in the way, and it might be difficult to make every class, but we hope that you will attend as many classes as possible as the content of each class builds on the next.
Can you help with transportation?
We have some funds to help with transportation. Please ask and we will try to help you out.
Who will be leading the class?
The class is led by a trained mental health professional AND a parent who has lived experience navigating the challenges of parenting amidst family trauma.
Why should I take this class?
Parenting is hard work–especially when us or our children have experienced trauma–and we can all use some extra support from time to time. Building upon the strengths you already have; this class will help you strengthen your support network and develop strategies to manage difficult feelings and behaviors.
Is childcare provided?
Unfortunately, childcare will most likely not be provided. If childcare will be provided for your particular class we will let you know.
