The Research

The University of Vermont along with the University of Connecticut received a $1.5 million three-year grant from the Department of Health and Human Services to conduct a randomized control trial of the Breakthrough Parenting Curriculum (BPC): Navigating Trauma Across Generations.

Each BPC study group will have 24 participants ~ 12 who will participate in the class immediately and 12 as a control group who will be eligible to participate at a later date. Surveys will be conducted at various points before, during, and after the course.

A major goal of this project is to apply for review of the Breakthrough Parenting Curriculum: Navigating Trauma Across Generations by the Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse. Acceptance with the Clearinghouse could make the BPC eligible for funding through the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA); providing resources for programs across the country to teach it!
